Forensic Engineering for Professional Engineers

Lecturer:  Harry L Bird, P.E.

Many engineers are asked to assist attorneys in their handling of legal matters, and many Professional Engineers are admitted to testify in Court as Expert Witnesses.  This course will examine Forensic Practice in all of its aspects, from the initial contact with an attorney to actual testimony in Court.  The role of the Professional Engineer in terms of advisor, evidence gatherer, analyst, researcher, report preparer and impartial witness will be examined and explained.  A mock trial will demonstrate to the participants some of the differences between direct and cross examination, and illustrate conduct in Court in the face of the legal system, the press and the public.
